Article: Multi-Purpose Skincare for the 'Skinimalist'

Multi-Purpose Skincare for the 'Skinimalist'

Multi-Purpose Skincare for the 'Skinimalist'

The latest trend in skincare is to just keep it simple, focusing on one or two 100% natural products that really work for you, rather than complicating your routine. Not to mention, taking the skinimalist approach is better for your budget and the environment.

True Skin Salve-ation

The Biode Skin Salve-ation is a one-of-a-kind product, as it is not only packaged with home-compostable zero waste packaging (like all Biode products), it is also completely natural and packed full of ingredients that protect, serve and literally “save” your skin. It is the perfect product for the skinimalist – a product so good it takes the place of a whole shelf of traditional products.

Why is it is great to use a multi-purpose product?

It simplifies your routine for a start. Using a single product that offers multiple benefits simplifies the process and saves valuable time. It eliminates the need for layering various products, making your skincare routine more efficient and hassle-free. It is also cost-effective. By opting for a multi-functional product, you can save money as it combines the benefits of multiple products in one. This is particularly beneficial for those on a budget or looking for cost-effective solutions without compromising on skincare effectiveness. Skin Salve-ation is travel friendly and allows you to streamline your travel skincare routine by reducing the number of items you need to carry. It helps save space in your luggage and simplifies your skincare regimen on the go.

Skin Salvation

So, what does it actually do?

I mean what doesn’t it do? It makes for a great lip balm, is good for all the dry corners like elbows, knees and heels. It protects the skin against the weather, it great for slugging over your night time skincare routine, soothes insect bites, softens and heals scars and skin rashes and is great at preventing chafing and nappy rash. You can rub it directly onto the skin for a rich protective layer of oils and butters, or you can rub it into the hand, add water and emulsify for the perfect face moisturiser.

What active ingredients are actually in it?

Quite a lot. We have packed as many natural wonder oils, waxes and butters into this multi-purpose body care product as we can. They each have different superpowers, but combined they are what make Skin Salve-ation unique and truly effective. Just take a look at this menu:

Sunflower oil is rich in vitamin E, a potent antioxidant that helps protect the skin from free radicals and environmental damage. This oil has excellent moisturizing properties and absorbs easily into the skin without leaving a greasy residue. Sunflower oil also contains essential fatty acids, which promote a healthy skin barrier and reduce water loss, resulting in improved hydration and smoother skin texture.

Shea butter is a luxurious and highly nourishing ingredient derived from the African shea tree. Packed with vitamins A, E, and F, as well as essential fatty acids, shea butter deeply moisturizes the skin and helps soothe dryness, irritation, and inflammation. Its emollient properties create a protective barrier that seals in moisture and enhances the skin's natural elasticity.

Coconut oil possesses antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties, making it effective in treating various skin conditions, including acne, eczema, and psoriasis. Its high content of medium-chain fatty acids aids in retaining moisture, resulting in soft and supple skin. Coconut oil also contains antioxidants that help combat oxidative stress and premature aging.

Derived from the leaves of the candelilla shrub, Candelilla wax is a plant-based alternative to beeswax. It acts as a natural emollient, providing a protective layer on the skin's surface and locking in moisture. Candelilla wax contributes to the overall texture and consistency of skincare products, enabling smooth application and long-lasting hydration.

Jojoba plant

Jojoba oil closely resembles the skin's natural sebum, making it an excellent moisturizer for all skin types. It helps regulate oil production, making it beneficial for both dry and oily skin. Jojoba oil is lightweight, non-comedogenic, and easily absorbed, nourishing the skin with vitamins and antioxidants. It also possesses antibacterial properties, aiding in the prevention of acne and breakouts.

Hemp seed oil is a powerhouse of essential fatty acids, including omega-3 and omega-6, which help nourish and moisturize the skin. It has anti-inflammatory properties that can soothe skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis. Hemp seed oil also contains antioxidants, including vitamin E, which protect against environmental stressors and promote a youthful complexion.

Cocoa butter is a natural fat derived from cocoa beans. It is highly moisturizing and rich in antioxidants, including polyphenols and flavonoids, which help fight free radicals and improve skin elasticity. Cocoa butter forms a protective barrier on the skin, preventing moisture loss and enhancing its ability to retain hydration. Its luxurious texture makes it an ideal ingredient for dry and mature skin.

Should we keep going? We’ll keep going.

Rosehip oil is extracted from the seeds of wild rose bushes. It is renowned for its high content of vitamins A, C, and E, as well as essential fatty acids. These components work together to promote cell regeneration, reduce the appearance of scars and hyperpigmentation, and improve skin texture. Rosehip oil also possesses anti-aging properties, helping to minimize fine lines and wrinkles.

Calendula oil is derived from marigold flowers and has soothing and anti-inflammatory properties. It is commonly used to alleviate skin irritations, including rashes, eczema, and sunburns. Calendula oil promotes wound healing and stimulates collagen production, resulting in improved skin tone and texture.
Pumpkin seed oil is packed with antioxidants, vitamins A and E, and essential fatty acids.

These components help to nourish and moisturize the skin, leaving it smooth and supple. Pumpkin seed oil also contains zinc, which aids in controlling excess oil production and reducing the occurrence of acne breakouts.

Seabuckthorn fruit oil is derived from the berries of the seabuckthorn plant. It is rich in vitamins C and E, essential fatty acids, and antioxidants. Seabuckthorn oil promotes skin hydration, elasticity, and regeneration. Its high concentration of beta-carotene contributes to a healthy complexion and protects against oxidative stress.

Lavender essential oil is well-known for its calming and soothing properties. It possesses antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, making it effective in treating acne, eczema, and minor skin irritations. Lavender oil also promotes relaxation and stress relief, which can positively impact overall skin health.

Okay so our Skin Salve-ation is an amazing little bundle of hard-working natural ingredients just ready to take on any skin issue you throw at it, but what about when I’m done, what happens to that lovely little package then?

Easy – it returns directly to the earth.

Waste Free, Guilt Free Skincare

All Biode products, including our Skin Salve-ation use zero waste, home compostable packaging which completely bio-degrade within 20 weeks, which is coincidentally, about the same time the product will last you. This is important to us, and to the planet for so many reasons. Firstly, it helps address the growing environmental crisis caused by plastic pollution. By opting for packaging materials that are biodegradable, compostable, or recyclable, beauty brands can significantly reduce their contribution to landfills and marine pollution.

Secondly, zero waste packaging promotes sustainable consumption patterns. It encourages consumers to make conscious choices and supports a circular economy by minimizing resource extraction and waste generation. By choosing products with zero waste packaging, you are reducing your ecological footprint.

So – saving your skin and the planet, one tiny powerhouse tube at a time. Skin Salve-ation is available as a handy 60g travel size or an 'easy to throw in your handbag' mini 10g lip-balm size.
